Heathrow Airport Transfer

By Sorin Olexiuc in London  |  3 years ago  |  0 comments

The easiest, cheapest and best way to get from the airport to city centre is by tube. The average journey time to central London is about 50 - 60 minutes. Tubes run every five minutes at peak times and every nine minutes at off-peak times and weekends. The cost is roughly £4.

Natural History Museum is a must see in London

By Sorin Olexiuc in London  |  3 years ago  |  0 comments

Natural Histoty Museum is an interesting and fun place for kids and adults alike. The victorian building itself especially designed to host the museum is a stunning piece of architecture. As soon as you enter the main hall, you're blown away by the beauty of the building's interior and the giant dinosaur skeleton!

The museum is very large, so you can spent the whole day here and have a reason to return to see the rest of the objects. The museum is divided into zones:

  • Red Zone dedicated to the Earth (you can for example experience an earthquake);
  • Green Zone with the central hall and its huge diplodocus skeleton, tossile marine reptiles, birds, minerals, primates;
  • Blue Zone with the dinosaurs, fishes, amphibians and reptiles, the human biology, the marine invertebrates, the mammals and the blue whale;
  • Orange Zone with the Wildlife Garden.

The dinosaurs exhibition includes lots of bones, skulls, fossilized eggs, but the greatest fun is provided by the animatronics. An extremely realistic T-Rex that move and even seem to breathe, give the impression of visiting a zoo. The life-sized Blue Whale suspended from the ceiling or the 1,300-year-old giant sequoia takes your breath too.

Don't need to say children love it, there are a lot of games and little tests for them.

Admission is FREE! I also like the fact that you're allowed to take photographs anywhere in the Museum. Museum is open every day 10.00AM – 17.50PM, last admission is at 17.30PM.

Directions: Nearest tube is South Kensington (Piccadilly, District & Circle lines) – follow the signs to walk here through the pedestrian subway (about 5 minutes) or turn right and then first left out of the station if you prefer to walk in fresh air.

London public transportation

By Sorin Olexiuc in London  |  3 years ago  |  0 comments

When in London buy an Oyster card from any subway station. It's the fastest and cheapest way to pay for journeys on bus or Tube.

Oyster cards are charged with an amount of credit of your choice. You can make as many journeys as you like in a 24 hour period and you will be charged less than you would pay for a paper ticket. If you make lots of journeys, the Oyster card will automatically cap the day's charges at the price of an equivalent Day Travelcard or One Day Bus Pass.

The aim is to ensure that Oyster always charges the lowest fare. Where it doesn't, you can get a refund.
